A couple of little items

I've been trying to keep up with my sewing and other craftiness while caring for the baby girl. So I have just a few things to share with you all. At first I was reluctant to make her anything pink because I thought we would be over run with it anyways. Now I'm embracing it and wanted to make something pinky pink! I found this birdie fabric that I fell in love with and combined it with a soft minky fabric to produce this sweet blanket.

And then one night my little girl was fussing and a friend was over and telling me about oatmeal packs that you can buy to heat up and lay on the baby's tummy to try to settle it. Buy it! Why I can make that! So ten minutes later I had this little oatmeal pillow created to help soothe my girl. It seems to work...at the very least the heat helps her relax and the weight of the oats is supposed to be helpful for putting some pressure on baby's tummy.

I also took a few days to make a little hat for my baby. I hadn't knit in a year, so I needed to relearn, but it didn't take long. She needed a cute pink hat and something help keep her head warm! She's all dressed up for Mardi Gras here. Now of course there are other things that I want to knit, but there are so many quilts calling my name....decisions, decisions!

january bee modern block

Hi all,
Still trying to do a little sewing even with the newborn babe. She keeps me busy but I try to take advantage of nap time. The other day I was finally able to work on the block for the Bee Modern swap for January. We had the most delicious fabrics and are all making a particular kind of star. I had a hard time deciding which of the fabulous fabrics to use, but eventually just chose my absolute favorites! It was so fun to work with them and the color scheme is so sweet. I can't wait to see the whole quilt put together.

I was pretty meticulous with this block for some reason, so I was very happy with the results. Seams all matched up and seam allowances look like they will be perfect. It's so hard to send away some of these blocks because I work so hard on them, but I'm grateful that something I created will become part of someone else's treasured quilt.

Enough chatter...here's the block. It's too cute.

I can't wait to see what we get to do for February!

In the meantime I have some other projects in the works. A couple of baby blankets...because what baby has enough? And a major quilt in the making...more on that later.

my dishtowel on Paula Deen's website!

So I've finally gotten some feedback on the dishtowels that I've sent to the Paula Deen show. One of them can currently be seen in one of the articles on her website.

Click here to see the picture on the site.

It's a pretty picture and shows off the towel well.

I've also been told that my dishtowels were used throughout the taping of season 7. Currently they are showing season 6 on the Food Network and I need to find out when they start showing season 7. They were very sweet and invited me to send anything more any time. They loved my towels. What a nice compliment!
