Today just happens to be my 9th wedding anniversary. In some ways time has flown by and in other ways I think it could be longer. ;) We've been through a lot together and life can be crazy...but crazy is better than boring!
In the spirit of celebrating, I wanted to both finish up one giveaway and start another.
First off, is the winner of the Flurry layer cake from The Fat Quarter Shop. I think it would have been cute if the lucky winner was number 9, but nope...it was # 50!
Who is Shelly!
(Remember we were celebrating Christmas then!)
Congrats to you Shelly! I hope you enjoy that Christmas fabric. Oh and I adore your email address. I'm sort of jealous that it is not mine! lol
But wait everyone, there is more! I told you that we had a new sponsor coming and here she is! It's Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics!
(ack! My computer is being weird and won't let me put her pink castle logo in this thread...but you can see it in my sidebar. You can't miss it. It's the only Pink Castle over there. ;) )
I just ordered the most luscious fabrics from Brenda! Most of them were from the Newest Joel Dewberry line (quite possibly my most favorite designer!) Heirloom. Tell me that these are not sooo delicious!!

This man is killing me because that is not even all of the colorways in this collection! Stop the madness!! So many fabrics, so little time.
I also got some irresistible new fabrics from a line called Dazzle. These are the basket weave prints. Brenda has too many yummy fabrics!

So, Brenda has graciously agreed to do a giveaway of a Jelly Roll of.... well, you all voted....and the results were pretty interesting. But hands down the clear winner was Little Apples! So we will be doing a giveaway of Little Apples Jellyroll! (but if you don't prefer that line we might be able to twist Brenda's arm into giving you the one that you voted for!)
So, given that it is my 9th wedding anniversary, this time I'd love to hear from you something marriage related. A piece of advice that you live by... Your favorite way to celebrate an anniversary (Lynne I already know what you are going to say!)... Your song you danced to at your wedding.... (the title of the post is ours!). Really anything about marriage! Everyone has something to say on this subject, so this is obviously not only limited to married people. lol. We're all full of opinions!
To enter the giveaway:
1. Leave a marriage/anniversary/wedding related comment
2. Run over to Brenda's shop and leave a comment back here telling me your favorite item she has or what you would like to see her carry.
Enjoy!!

Happy anniversary! Love God first, your husband 2nd, and your kids 3rd. After the kids leave home, you'll still have your husband. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I just celebrated our 22nd anniversary. Advice - stay close to the Lord Jesus. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the set of 12 FQ's of Folk Life at Brenda's shop. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is 1/2 Yard Bundle Bella Solids by Moda 9 Colors Rainbow Aubergine Robins Egg Gray. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, this september will by my 27th anniversary, and I am only 32...LOL...not really, but I feel much younger than my parents were at this age. My piece of advice has to do with children---always, always, always present a united front! Please DON'T ask me how I know this....... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
ReplyDeleteI love Pink Castle Fabrics, and I have to say I am in love with the new Joel Dewberry line there in all the lucious colorways!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My husband surprised me with my sewing machine for our 5 yr. Wedding Anniversary, almost 5 years ago! I didn't even use it for almost three years after he gave it to me, now I am sewing everyday and it's added so much to my life. Somehow he knew even before I did! : )
ReplyDeleteLove Pink Castle Fabrics -- they sponsor me too!!!
We danced to Harry Connick Jr's It Had to Be You about 8 years ago. Time sure goes fast!
ReplyDeleteMy SIL is getting married on Saturday - it's going to be a busy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the Moda Cross Weave Fabrics -- I need to get some soon!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving fabrics that have writing on them, and I really like 1/2 Yard Seed Catalog in Black and White Annie's Farm Stand Lakehouse Dry Goods
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! May you have many more blessed years together. It's been 17 years for Dan and I this year and if feels so strange because it doesn't seem like 17 years.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite in Brenda's shop is the 1/2 Yard Bundle Bella Solids by Moda 9 Colors Rainbow Aubergine Robins Egg Gray!
ReplyDeleteIt took me twice to get it right and now I've been happily married for nearly 21 years. I guess my advice would be to make sure the communication stays open so you can always trust and respect the other person.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I'm not married. Nobody wanted me lol. Actually today is my brothers 26th Wedding Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI really like the seed catalogue fabric by Lakehouse Drygoods. I am loving the Annie's Farm Stand range. Mind I also like the look of those Perle cotton boxes Brenda has.
My sweet hubby and I have been married 38 years (!!). You can see the pretty flowers he sent to me on my thrifting blog -
ReplyDeletehttp://justalittlesouthernhospitality.blogspot.com/2011/07/white-on-white.html
Happy Anniversary, and I wish you many many more!
I think the Cape Ann layer cake is cute as can be. That would be my favorite :-)
ReplyDeleteI still like curio best. Seriously though, besides curio, I am finding the colors with Etchings Layer Cake intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a chance to win! :-)
Congrats! My hubby and I are going on 4 years in Sept. I agree with the "time flies... but sometimes it feels so much longer" statement. Maybe just on the fun days time flies ;-)
ReplyDeleteA marriage is like a boa constrictor, you have to feed it every day or it will eat you.
... words of wisdom right there ;-)
I LOVE the new Dewberry line too - he is one of my favorites! I'm trying to limit myself to just buying a FQ bundle of the orange/aqua color line and then a couple of the purple prints for a skirt and a bag... even though I want them ALL! Great new shop, thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I just celebrated 2 years on Monday. Our first dance was "Whatever It Is" by Zac Brown band.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...advice. Don't we all learn different things in life, and I feel we are with that special person to help us both become better, together. One thing that I always like to think about is that we are a team- we work on our relationship and family together, we play and have fun together, and we support each other. It grows and stretches us, and in the process, we become closer to each other and the Lord. That's my 2 cents :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Old but true - never go to sleep on an argument!! We celebrate our 25th anniversary next year
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party but I see Brenda has got some Hope Valley - so hard to track down in the UK
ReplyDeleteYup, been drooling over heirloom too :) I LOVE all the FFAIII prints she has and the crossweaves also- they are a great print to use when you don't want a solid, but sort of want the look of a solid :)
ReplyDeletePut God first in all that you do. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI loveee the new Joel Dewberry line!
ReplyDeletejmistok(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm not married yet or anything, but I've see my parents and they've been married 32 years, and my grandparents for 65 - so really, it seems to be about making time for each other, and enjoying the small stuff, and letting go of the unimportant stuff.. thats what i plan to do!
ReplyDeletejmistok(at)gmail(dot)com
First, Happy Anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteSecond, What Sally said, Love God, Your Spouse and Your Children, in THAT order. I would add, "Don't be shy about letting your kids know where they stand in the pecking order."
When my kids start to play us against one another (and every kid does this at some point) I remind them, "I love you, but I love your mother more, I WILL take her side EVERY time."
It's funny, the first time I said this to my adopted daughter she complained to our son. His response, "Yup. He's said it me a dozen times. He means it." I was glad to overhear that conversation, it confirmed that my kids actually do listen to what I say!
Good Luck in your next 9 years! (And the 9 after that, and the 9 after that, etc.)
Paul

Happy Anniversary! Random wedding comment - the DJ at ours played "Chicken Dance" even though we specifically said we didn't want it. I remember being confused that he even asked - I thought it was a joke or something. It made for some good wedding photos though!
ReplyDeleteOn the car ride away from our wedding (almost 5 years ago), I was really quiet. I was not just tearing up, but really crying in the car. (Not a good sign, in my new husband's eyes!) He asked me what was wrong, and I said, "Nothing. I feel like I finally understand God's love." It was a perfect day, filled with the love of friends and family and peace that I am so, so thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI like Wing Study a lot but also Lizzy House and Triflora...and a few others. It's impossible to pick just one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the Lizzy House, as well as all the goodies you picked out. :)
ReplyDeleteA very happy anniversary to you, and many many more. I can't wait to start celebrating wedding anniversaries myself, soon since my boyfriend (now fiance) proposed a couple of weeks ago!
ReplyDeleteI like using polka dots and stripes for binding. I sorted by price, lowest to highest, and found almost a FULL page of polka dots and stripes!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunities to win!

I might have to get some Space Invaders geeky print yardage - memories!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! We celebrated 9 this year as well. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteNever been married (focusing on college right now!), but the only thing I can say from married friends, my parents, and family members, is to pick your battles. Don't nitpick over stupid little things, and you'll both be much happier! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary (which also happens to fall on my birthday...31 today!). As for marriage, from what I can see among my married friends, the best ones maintain a real partnership -- independent individuals whose needs and desires are equal and equally attended to.
ReplyDeleteI love the Joel Dewberry Heirloom fabrics. Mr. Mailman actually dropped off a box today with FQs of the entire line sent from Brenda (after I paid her of course)! I can't wait to get started on a project with them. The fabrics really are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd over at the shop, I love seeing shot cottons and cross weaves. I want to work with both more often.
ReplyDeleteBrenda's shop has wayyy to much beautiful things to chose from! I'd have to say my favorite items would be the Hope Valley fat quarter set, the AMH perle cotton thread, and the Alexander Henry crosshatch print :)
ReplyDeleteI just celebrated my 13th anniversary. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteWe just celebrated our 28th anniversary!! Good grief. Keep laughing and spend time together!!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to see more Kona solids. Beautiful shop! Thanks:)
ReplyDeleteI'll be celebrating my first anniversary in November so I don't have any advice of my own, so my comment will be what my mama told me when I got married: There will be a lot of times when you are right and he is wrong but it's not worth arguing over. Learn when to let it go, walk away, and say "okay, honey", knowing in your head that YOU are right. Pick your battles and the big ones seem less catastrophic.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing in the shop is, ironically, Heirloom! I wasn't sure I'd like it when I first saw it, but it's really grown on me.
ReplyDeleteWell, I get married at the end of September so I am reading all the advice with interest!! Fingers crossed for the Little Apples!!
ReplyDeleteAll that yummy fabric, but, it has to be Marquis Heirloom by Joel Dewberry, gotta love the geometrics!
ReplyDeleteI've only been married 2 years and two months now, but even if we are still practically newlyweds, the best marriage advice I've ever been given was to be your husband's cheerleader. Not in the dress up and jump around sort of way but in the always support him, especially in public. In private you can tell him the things he isn't doing right, but in public you NEED to be his best supporter. He relies on it.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen that new Joel Dewberry line, but I'm really liking the colors and almost-geometric prints.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! Congrats on your anniversary, too! I just got married this year, so I don't have much advice/expertise... but it was fun!
ReplyDeleteI think the thing I'd most like is the Little Apples jelly roll, but those basket weave prints are REALLY tempting!
ReplyDeleteOur 6 year Anniversary is in a month....I can't think of one good piece of advice! Hmmm...laugh together, A LOT! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Fairy Tale Friends!
ReplyDeleteHurray for NY marriage equality!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My favourite way to celebrate anniversaries (or anything!) is a meal out at a nice restaurant :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I'm celebrating my first summer divorced and all I can say is I should've done it a long time ago!!
ReplyDeleteI have my on on the Joel Dewberry Flourish.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm loving the Joel Dewberry Crosshatch prints!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! We will celebrate our 7th this September. We wanted our song to be R.E.M.'s Night Swimming, but the band didn't know how to play it so we had to choose some Polish song instead. Still it was one of the best weddings I've been to ;)
ReplyDeleteThe fabric that struck me today as I browsed was 1/2 Yard Studio E Red Essentials Tweet Tweet Black and White Color Me fabrics.
ReplyDeleteGood communication leads to a better marriage. My husband and I have such faith in this that we have worked with our church for the last 25 years encouraging good marriages, and the last 15 sharing about communication. We have been married almost 38 years - will be 38 just 3 weeks from now!
Happy Anniversary, Angela!! My husband and I have been married or dating (dating first, obviously!) for 37 years now - and I have to say marrying him was the smartest thing I ever did! He's my best friend, my most ardent supporter (he even gave up half his man-cave this year so I could put in a quilting machine!), and the love of my life! If you're half as happy as we are, you're a lucky girl!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the Joel Dewberry Heirloom, too - especially in the Citrine colorway - so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My husband and I have a rule. You can point or you can laugh, but you can't point and laugh at the same time. Hope you have a great time celebrating!
ReplyDeleteI already know Pink Castle Fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteMrs. March's Retro Pop looks interesting and the Curio charm pack is tempting, too.
Happy Anniversary and many more to you! We are heading towards 36 years and I almost have him trained the way I want him HAHA!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see Ruby at Pink Castle Fabrics when it's available!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Our 25th is on the 2nd of August...hard to believe its been that many years!
ReplyDeleteMy advice is to late....marry your best friend!
Very cute stuff over at Pink Castle Fabrics, touph choice....
ReplyDeleteI really like the fabric Wing Study in Pastille Botanika by Paula Prass....I love birds!
I've been married for 33 years. Every relationship has difficult times. My advice is to remember at those times that things will get better and you'll be able to recapture the passion.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Maybe you know this better at 9 years than I do at 6, but for one of the keys to a happy marriage is expectation management. Always be clear on what you think is going to happen, day to day, then, when your plans don't mesh, it's worked out, not a surprise!
ReplyDeleteOh, by far, for me, the Fairy Tales fat quarter bundle is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteWe've been married 47 years. We have a mixed marriage, Norwegian/Swede, Democrat/Republican, Right Brain/Left Brain, Cheer Leader/Jock. My advice is patience and generosity. Each of you should be yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing Metro Living Circles in Chartreuse by Robert Kaufman. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI like some of the 1001 Peeps coordinating fabrics, like Sheherazade in purple, Heraldry in blue and Illuminate in blue. In fact I think I'll buy some....
ReplyDeleteMarriage. Wow. It will be 20 years in November. Talk it out and let it go. Not always easy, but when it comes to the "small stuff" it always works. Our song? "Shameless"
ReplyDeleteBrenda has so many goodies in her shop, it's impossible to choose a favourite - I'd love to buy nearly everything she's got! I did spy FQ and half yard bundles of 12 Moda Crossweave fabrics that I'd love to try out as I've not had any so far.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new sponsor and thanks for the yummy giveaway!
I'll be getting married soon(ish) (I'm so tempted to just run off and do it) and the thing that has made this guy last above all others is that he and I aren't afraid to do something completely silly around each other...like steal my sock when I'm getting ready to go out and turn it into a sock puppet. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly falling for Ta Dot by Michael Miller. I keep putting off buying some but I know that won't last long.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am loving her DWR QAL set that she put together. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy advice, don't let the little things get you down. Choose your arguments wisely.
Congratulations on your 9th anniversary. Advice? Well, after 36+ years of marriage I would have to say.....always say thank you, admit when you are wrong, and never, ever stop holding hands.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway!
My favorite item in Brenda's shop is the Ruby Jelly Roll by Bonnie and Camille :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not much for advice so I'll just say protect and cherish what you have.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed browsing the Pink Castle shop. The Heirloom fabrics are indeed fantastic! I also liked Sheherazade and all the dots.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have only been legally married for about 3 years now, but I found out recently (at my brother's wedding), that when people as him how long we have been married he says 7 years... that's how long we have been together. I asked him about it and he said he just always knew that we were meant to be. So my advice (after seriously swooning) would be to trust your instinct -- if it's good, hold on to it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the green/blue anthology bundle she has... yummmmy colors!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a week away from my first wedding anniversary with my husband. I've been out of work the last month so for us so its been difficult. It seems simple, but placing value in what the other does throughout the day is important. and then catching up on said days over dinner :)
Gosh, so many pretty fabrics.. seriously never will be enough time in one life to sew them all. Really liking Yard Rose Bouquet in the aqua and orange. Wouldn't mind some Little Apples either *wink*
ReplyDeleteIronically, my 9th wedding anniversary was yesterday (7/26/2002)! So we had just started our honeymoon (driving) the day that you were married! Yesterday we both weren't feeling well, so we did nothing, and literally laid around all day, but at least we got to spend it together! HA
ReplyDeleteWhat was our wedding song? Lady by Kenny Rogers, and no we aren't country music fans, it was just our song!
The closer you both draw to God, the closer you draw to each other. How can you help but be a better husband or wife the more Christ-like you become?
ReplyDeleteMetro Living Circles!
ReplyDeleteFavorite fabric over at Pink Castle? Well it isn't fabric, but I really want those AMH Pearl Cotton boxes of spools...so awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe just celebrated our 11th. I guess the best advice is to remember that you & your hubby are not against each other, but together against whatever trials come. :) Thanks for the chance to enter! Happy Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a huge weakness for shot cottons & cross weaves. You have the benefit of solids, but it's got great color & movement. I'm glad she has so many in stock!
ReplyDeleteI love that seed catalog fabric in black and white - I'd love to work that into a little quilt!
ReplyDelete"Mawwige. Mawwige is what bwings us together today." Gotta love that line from Princess Bride! Great summertime movie.
ReplyDeleteMy parents were married a long time. As a child, I recall my father telling me to "go ask your mother". My parents were not divided on discipline, whoever caught us doing "wrong" administered the discipline. Most importantly, I remember their laughter together as they truly enjoyed each others company. So, advice: united on rules for the kids and enjoy your time together.
ReplyDeleteJoel Dewberry's Heirloom is my favorite collection. My next fave is 1001 Peeps, especially the purple colors. Of course, those basket weave prints from Dazzle are awfully cute too. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletemy husband and i just got married on june 25! i don't know much about marriage, considering i'm kind of a noob. i do know that i woke up feeling different the day after our wedding, and that i can't get enough of telling folks about my HUSBAND.
ReplyDeleteOur anniversary is next week! The best advice we got:
ReplyDeleteGet your own tube of toothpaste!! :)
OH, OH, OH I see she has Anna Marie Horner embroidery floss over there - awesome & good to know. I love jelly rolls - any jelly rolls - thanks for the chance to win one.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! We just celebrated 38 years. On the surface we seem like polar opposites, but we share the same core values and that has worked very well for us.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I want (but can't afford) ALL of the Heirloom line. Now.
ReplyDeleteI've been married 41 years - my advice would be "Don't Yell" - it accomplishes nothing. Take 5 then talk it out in a calm, quiet voice. Has worked for us all these years.
ReplyDeleteHmm . .
ReplyDeletemarriage advice: think about the fight you're having is it really worth it to win the fight, let it go.
My wedding song - Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
Great giveaway!
Those basket weave prints are a great basic to have, I think! I'm glad to see she has the green metro living circles; I have been looking for that!
ReplyDeleteMy 20th wedding anniversary is coming up in August. I keep joking with my husband that he must have married a child since I'm still only 29 haha.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on nine years...best advice I have is once a fight is worked out don't rehash it again..let it go, forgiveness is everything. I am guessing you figured that out already!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! We'll be celebrating our 11th next month. The best marriage advice I was ever given is to hold hands whenever you can. That little physical connection can mean a lot.
ReplyDeleteWent to visit the Pink Castle. I love the dumb dots in charcoal - what a great neutral to have on hand. I also love the whole Heirloom line. Joel Dewberry is one of my favorites too. I made a really cute dress out of two of his Aviary 2 fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! Marriage advise - Always be kind to each other. Thanks for a chance.
ReplyDeleteJust love the Etchings Layer Cake from 3 Sisters. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteIt took me twice - and really knowing myself to get it right. My advice? The best marriages are those where you love yourself first ... only then can you really love another. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOh Happy Anniversary! I hope you both get to do something to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteMarriage related ~ hmmmm not sure if this qualifies, but we just celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary ourselves on July 13th. How funny it's so close and the same year.
This year we didn't do much to celebrate other than going to our favorite restaurant which takes us about 1 1/2 hrs to drive to. I felt like some old OLD couple you see in the comics or something when trying to decide where to go for their anniversary and sorting through their coupons. LOL Yep, we used the coupon for this place that was emailed to us for our anniversary. I'm sure anyone else would have too considering this place is $45+ each.
And I am still fawning over Dewberry's new line! All of it, every colorway!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to borrow the advice my BFF gave to one of our friends when he was best man at their wedding: "Sometimes, when you're married, even when you're right, you're wrong." (oh, and we had clown noses on our faces at the time too) :D
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that struck me at the Pink Castle was the Newsprint fabric! Too cool!!
Oh gosh, your taste is like mine. I just adore both Amethyst and Garnet Heirloom by Joel Dewberry lines. They are both just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am VERY much hoping I'll be able to buy some too but I am just not sure. :( I did post more but chose to delete the reason why I may not be able to buy any. You don't need a discussion about my reason here. LOL I'll behave just for you. Aren't you happy? :) haha
We were married the same year as you! We got engaged July 3rd, 2002 and were married 2 months later in September! Congrats and may you have many more!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 9th Anniversary! We celebrated 31 yrs last week! Fave fabric today has to be Joel Dewberry's Heirloom - amazing colors!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My hubby and I celebrated our 5th just last month. We've been together for 8 though so it feels like longer.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the Heirloom fabrics too...SO pretty! Especially the orange and blue colerway.
My husband got in a disagreement last year about our wedding date. Turns out, we were both wrong! I hung our framed wedding invite by the front door so we have no excuse.
ReplyDeleteI need Heirloom in the plum color way!! I wasn't super excited after seeing the online thumbnails, but seeing your pics makes me think I need some!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!!!! Time does fly doesn't it?!?!
ReplyDeleteThis year is my 6th wedding anniversary...and i am only 24 :) my husband and i eloped and were married in the rainforest at 18 with just 4 people there (including ourselves). Then about 2 months into our marriage we found out that we had a bun in the oven and now six years later we have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and life is grand! I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. We didn't have a first dance or a wedding song but we had each other and that's all that matters!
I have been in love with Alexander Henry Fabric Farmdale Blossom in teal for ages! Definitely my fave!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I'm getting married next year and I can't wait! I think we are starting to want to elope because things are getting sort of crazy with the families - lol - but we would never hear the end of it. As they say, it's about the marriage and not the wedding, but apparently that's only to us! =P :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Cape Anne layer cake!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been married for just 5 years, but boy have we been through a lot! We lost a child, he's been laid off more times than I can count, and we lost our house last year. But, we're still going strong. I tell him that on our 10th anniversary, I expect a big ole ring!
ReplyDeleteI think Brenda should carry Sarah Jane! Thanks for the chance.
Great giveaway!! Be each other's best friend. Donna S. donnasmll@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteCan't leave comment with my Google acct??
I'm celebrating my 2nd anniversary next month so don't feel ready to give advice just yet - ask me in a few years! - but it's wonderful reading the comments and seeing so many people with so many years behind them!
ReplyDeleteWe danced to My Beloved Monster :)
Happy Anniversary, and it was great to meet you last weekend! Laughter is what brought my husband and I together and keeps our marriage going. Be sure to have fun together!
ReplyDeletei just got married a month ago! congratulations to you! so far i don't have much advice since i'm freshly new at this.
ReplyDeletewe danced to "I Can't Wait (be my wife)" by Runner Runner. it was so sweet - my husband sang the lyrics to me as we swayed with our eyes closed. :)
i looove the alexander henry heath collection!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get my hands on some Heirloom soon. Maybe some yardage for some little girl dresses :)
ReplyDeleteEarlier this month my husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary...this year we spent some time together on a hike and out for ice cream...it's nice to spend time with him!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary ♥ I have been married to my best friend for 25 years! We celebrated with a trip to Door Co. in northern Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated our 27th anniversary this year. We have been together longer than we were apart! Remember to always keep the two of you in the front. Happy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have some Ruby.
ReplyDeleteAnnie's Farm Stand Lakehouse . . . love, love, love this fabric. The strawberries and newsprint plus the blue, and aqua colors are wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 9th wedding anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI voted for Little Apples....
Hope I can win it!!!!!!
Happy Anniversary! Don't forget 'date night' or some special time just the 2 of you. I'm getting 'date weekend' this weekend.
ReplyDeleteTwelve years married and still in love!
ReplyDeleteThe 6th of August is my 6th year anniversary. :) I think that my best marriage advice is to always tell your spouse how much they mean to you and to be able to laugh, especially when there are arguments. Sometimes a laugh can be enough to cut through the tension. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with the AMH perle cotton sets. Glad to see that pink castle has them in stock now! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI think one of the most important things I have discovered about marriage is to not take each other for granted. Having a child really turned our marriage upside down but now I feel like we are stronger than ever. More words of wisdom: let it go.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Number 8 for us next January. Our wedding song was "It must be Love" by Don Williams. Kickin' it ol' school country :)
ReplyDeleteBesides drooling over the Joel Dewberry fabrics, I love the seed catalog newsprint fabric. I have a weakness for typography on fabric.
ReplyDeleteI am not married, but I'm at an age where lots of my peers are getting married and one lesson that I've learned (and hope I remember when the time is right) is that you need to focus a lot more on the marriage than on the wedding. People focus so much attention on one day and forget to work on building the things that make a marriage last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteOn the Etsy shop, I really dig the Moda Crossweave bundles! It was hard to pick, though, she has a really good selection! I want some 1001 Peeps and some Heirloom and some Kaffe shot cotton!! Yummy yummy!
Probably the number one thing that helps us keep our marriage going smoothly is being quick to apologize. It was really hard to learn that, let me tell you. But it's been worth it. Enjoy your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI like the Wing Study in Pastille Botanika print...it's so unique!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have dated for 9. We started dating when I was 15! Anyways, our first dance at our wedding was sung by a local band and it was the song At Last. Such great memories!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother told me when I got married that you should never go to bed angry. It feeds the bad mojo and you will not sleep.
ReplyDeleteI jumped over to Pink Castle and I must say that the Fat Quarter bundles from Anthology really are tempting especially High Society!
ReplyDeletePS I forgot to mention Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!! We will be 9 in about 5 months.I don't like to give advice on a subject that is a work in progress but I think that being great friends makes for a happy marriage. As far as pink chalk, I'm itching for the cross weaves bundle! Thanks for the give away.
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white Annie's Farm!
ReplyDeleteMarriage advice...marry someone that you can nickname "mr. Romance" or Mr. Fun...the marriage just keeps getting better and better. Married 39 years and loving every second of it. Congrats on #9!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Advice- Marriage isn't a 50/50 partnership, it's 100% from each of you all the time. And don't keep score-(you got this so it's my turn to get that). Together you are so much more than separate. Next month we'll celebrate 42 years of wedded bliss. Sometimes bliss, mostly hard work but loads of fun, laughter and enjoying being together. congratualtions and many, many more.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not married and am not big on weddings and all that. I do have to say from living with men, it's been less stressful when chores are clearly defined. In the past, my exes and I always fought over them not doing anything. My boyfriend and I discussed before moving in together who would do what. For us, since we live in a house, it was simple: I take care of the inside and he takes care of the outside. This includes all the cooking for me and he repairs my car and picks up after our dogs. The only exceptions are my garden, which I tend to, and if something needs to be fixed inside.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose, but the first new fabric that caught my eye was the Wing Study by Paula Prass for Michael Miller.
ReplyDeleteWe're coming up to 18 years (that makes me feel older than my birthdays, actually). The key to a happy marriage is sharing the dish washing duty!!
ReplyDeleteI've gotta jump on your Joel bandwagon. His opal print is to die for and I'm so happy to be able to find it now in new colours!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! Enjoy your celebrations. My husband and I both FORGOT our 6 year anniversary - so my advice to my husband in that situation is to - buy your wife some flowers. :-)

And I was shopping at pink castle fabrics yesterday for some solids I am going to use to make his and hers quilts for our bed. I have a fq set of good folks I am going to split into warm and cool colours. There wasn't room for much else in my parcel, but if there had been I really like the cape Ann layer cake. :-)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your anniversary! I would have to say my best advice is to remember to always be kind to each other.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the fabulous solids that Brenda carries - I'm a loyal customer!
ReplyDeleteHappy 9th Anniversary! For our 10th anniversary, my husband conspired with the waitstaff at the resort where we were staying, and I got a ruby and diamond ring on top of my apple pie ala mode! Our anniversary was Valentine's Day and I thought it was a little trinket that everyone got, until I realized the waitstaff and our friends at our table were all laughing at me! My present to him? Matching sweatshirts that said "10 Long Miserable Years" (a family joke).
ReplyDeleteI love the Joel Dewberry Heirloom line too! But I am a sucker for all things by 3 Sisters and love the Etchings line.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item in Brenda's shop is the Ruby Jelly Roll by Bonnie and Camille. Love their stuff!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. We celebrated our Silver Wedding by going on holiday to Lake Maggiore in Italy our Hotel was right on the side of the lake. It was the most magical place, it was used for weddings and the guests at the hotel were always invited to the party afterwards. Next year we celebrate our 40th unfortunately we dont have the same disposable income so I doubt we will be celebrating in style again. Linda
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is Curio followed by Etchings and then Ruby and then.... how can I pick just one!! Linda
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Thanks for "sharing the love"!
ReplyDeleteOur wedding song ... 26 years ago ... was Bob Marley's "Turn The Lights Down Low". My husband picked it. He was in his reggae phase. A phase that seems to have lasted. I've never been as crazy about reggae as my husband is but I'm still crazy about him, so it works. What really makes me laugh, though, is that a couple years after our wedding a group of friends were at our place. There was music on and as one song started to play a friend said, "Hey! That's your wedding song!". It wasn't. It was "Buffalo Soldier" ... a reggae song ... also by Bob Marley. I laughed! And because of that whenever I hear "Buffalo Soldier", I think of our wedding.
Silly memories are great. I'm sure you have many of your own, too.
What a fabulous online shop! Thanks so much for introducing us to it! So many fabrics to love, such as ...

ReplyDeleteMarriage related: sad, but true-->pick your battles! Are the dishes really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the Bella solids! The Farmer's wife is getting me more interested in solids.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We are headed for 6 years this September. So, I guess you would have more advice than I would, but the one thing I tell all of my newly married friends is to spend time with other happy couples. When you surround yourself with happiness and love, it's easy to just sit back and enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!!
Jen
Oops. I forgot to tell you my FAVORITE fabric from Brenda's shop. It has got to be:
ReplyDeleteTweet Tweet in black and white with red for Studio E Essential
I LOVE IT!!!! I might even buy some right now! LOL.
We have many anniversaries, first time we met, first kiss, first time we declared love to each other and then nearly froze to death (not really) in the Scottish highlands... these all seem more important to me than the wedding anniversary. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so into Master Reels Viewfinders in Blue, I love this line and I still don't have any of the viewfinder print!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any advise really, just keep on keeping on? lol
My anniversary is in Feb, so sometime I'd love to celebrate it by going on a tropical vacation somewhere!
And your other question?
ReplyDeleteEven before seeing your gorgeous phots of it, my answer is Heirloom. I need it all!

ReplyDeleteand one of my favorites that she carries is the metro living line! thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love the Fat Scotties Double Wedding Ring. Of course my favorite color is purple so that makes this kind of obvious. Also, I have officially been married 3 months now. Great adventures are about to happen.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get engaged this year...
ReplyDeleteI love Pink Castle! I'm a big fan of the timeless treasure cross hatch!
ReplyDeleteHard to choose, but I love the Moda crossweaves. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMy advice-you have to let the little stuff go. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHere's my story (in a few words): when I was a little girl I planned that I'll get married when I'm 28. But when I was after 20, I didn't believe that I'll ever get married, so I was having a lot of fun instead. And... I got married when I was 28! (love caught me right in the moment when I was 100% sure that I'll single for the rest of my life).
ReplyDeleteMy example is excellent example that people should not wait for love - the love will come when they don't expected it:)
PS. I know that this statement is obvious for most of the people, who are already in love, but not all single people believe in this...
I like in Brenda's shop that she have lots of tonals and these are my faves.
ReplyDelete5 Year wedding anniversary this year...time flies!!
ReplyDeletewe just celebrate 6 years. As a wedding gift to me, my husband had a painting commissioned by an artist we both like. Now, we take turns every year buying a piece of artwork as a gift to ourselves for our anniversary. What a collection we'll have!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! We danced to Chantal Kreviazuk's "Feels Like Home" almost 6 years ago.
